COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS SIMULATION AND VISUALIZATION OF NEWTONIAN AND NON-NEWTONIAN TRANSPORT IN A PERISTALTIC MICRO-PUMP

چکیده

Motivated by recent developments in bio-inspired medical engineering micro-scale pumps, this paper, a three-dimensional sequential simulation of peristaltic micro-pump is described to provide deeper insight into the hydromechanics laminar, viscous flow propulsion. The Carreau and power-law models are employed for non-Newtonian behavior. commercial software package ANSYS Fluent utilized conduct numerical laminar pump fluid dynamics, based on finite volume method steady space solver. Details provided geometric design (conducted with AUTOCAD), pre-processing (meshing) necessary boundary conditions simulate within pump. Extensive visualization velocity, pressure vorticity contours included. present simulations benchmark future comparison experimental studies indeed more advanced alternative models. Applications study include biomimetic blood dialysis machines, infusion etc.
